Samsung will unveil the first Galaxy M series 5G smartphone in India tomorrow. The Galaxy M42 5G has already been teased, and some of its features have been revealed. The relatively affordable 5G smartphone from Samsung is based on the Galaxy A42 5G, which has already been launched in various other countries. If there was ever a doubt about the Galaxy M42 5G being a rebranded Galaxy A42 5G, Google has cleared it today.
The Galaxy M42 5G has now appeared in Google’s Play Supported Devices List, revealing that it has the same device code (a42xq) as that of the Galaxy A42 5G. As per the listing, the phone features a Snapdragon 750G processor with Adreno 619 GPU, 6GB RAM, an Infinity-U display with HD+ resolution (1,339×720 pixels), and the Android 11 operating system.
Galaxy M42 5G specs, expected pricing
The upcoming smartphone from Samsung is expected to be priced anywhere between INR 20,000 (around $270) and INR 25,000 (around $335) in India. Since it is clear that the Galaxy M42 5G is a rebranded Galaxy A42 5G, we expect the phone to feature a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display, a 20MP selfie camera, a 48MP+8MP+5MP+5MP quad-camera setup at the rear, 4K video recording through the front and rear cameras, and an in-display fingerprint reader.
The Galaxy M42 5G will also feature 6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot. Its connectivity features will include GPS, dual-SIM card slot, 5G, 4G, dual-band Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, and a headphone jack. It may or may not feature NFC, though. It will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery and have support for 15W fast charging.
