Samsung has already updated dozens of Galaxy smartphones and tablets to Android 11. Last month, the company updated a whopping 350 devices (including variants) with new software releases. Now, it is updating the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) with S Pen to the latest public version of Android.

The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) with S Pen has started getting a new software update in Chile and the Philippines. The new software, which has firmware version P205DXU5CUE3, brings Android 11 along with One UI Core 3.1. The new software includes a refreshed UI design, chat bubbles, one-time permissions, auto permissions reset, improved stock apps, improved versions of Samsung Internet and Samsung Keyboard, a better design for the Device Care page, and improved Digital Wellbeing and Parental Controls.

Samsung’s official changelog mentions that the company has also improved the performance of the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) with S Pen through enhanced dynamic memory allocation and restricting background activities. The South Korean firm has disabled a few features, including file sharing via Wi-Fi Direct, connecting to Chromecast via Smart View, and accessing SD card files directly via Dual Messenger apps.

The new update for the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) with S Pen has a download size of over 1.6GB and includes the May 2021 security patch. You can check for the update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually if you know how the flashing process works. The update could reach more markets over the next few weeks.

The Galaxy Tab A with S Pen likely won’t get any more Android OS updates since it has already received two updates (Android 10 with One UI Core 2.0 and Android 11 with One UI Core 3.1) since its launch.
